DEY, L.P. Donates $100,000 to the American Red Cross Tsunami Disaster Relief Effort
December 31 donation made to the Napa Chapter of the American Red Cross
Napa, CA, January 03, 2005 - In response to last week's far-reaching natural disaster in Southeast Asia, on December 31, DEY, L.P. donated $100,000 to the Napa Chapter of the American Red Cross to support reconstruction and relief efforts in areas affected by the tsunamis.
"It is hard for any of us to fathom the level of devastation caused by the tsunamis. The best we can do is speak through our actions, and in that spirit DEY has contributed $100,000 to the Napa Chapter of the American Red Cross in support of its disaster relief efforts," said J. Melville Engle, DEY's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all the affected individuals who are now struggling to reclaim and rebuild their lives."
Engle noted President Bush's announcement today that he is tapping his father, President George H.W. Bush and former President Bill Clinton to lead a nationwide, private fund-raising campaign to help victims of the Asian tsunamis. "While we had already made this contribution to the American Red Cross prior to the President's announcement, we enthusiastically applaud his actions today, and encourage companies and individuals to respond to this national call for contributions," Engle said.
