Product Development

DEY^® is a leader in the development of unit dose oral inhalation products for nebulization. Oral inhalation products are aqueous-based solutions or suspensions that are aerosolized for lung delivery using devices called nebulizers. Unit dose vials for nebulization are formed, filled and hermetically sealed under aseptic conditions in one continuous operation in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at DEY. Pharmaceutical Development scientists at DEY work at the forefront of this technology to develop new products for respiratory conditions. They develop formulation compositions and container closure systems.

DEY's Pharmaceutical Development scientists also evaluate the performance of the formulations using state of art equipment. Scientists in Pharmaceutical Development collaborate with others in Analytical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing and Manufacturing to develop products that not only meet but exceed regulatory requirements and are also patient friendly. From powdered drug particles to fine mists, our scientist do it all.

The development team at DEY also works in another challenging area, intranasal products. The overall goal is to develop a product that provides a uniform dose of active ingredient every time the nasal spray pump is actuated over hundreds of doses depending on the product.

Formulation development scientists conduct studies to optimize stability of product. They assure compatibility of the formulation with package components. DEY is taking steps to broaden its product portfolio and our scientists are getting involved in the development of other drug delivery systems such as MDI's, DPI's and novel nebulization approaches.
